Neuschwanstein Castle

Before the movers came to pack us out of Stuttgart, we planned a couple of "have to do" road trips.  First on our list was the famous Neuschwanstein Castle!

The Neushwanstein Castle is one of the most charming Castles.  The fairytale look of this castle inspired Walt Disney to create the Magic Kingdom.

The castle is located in Bavaria, near the town Fussen.  It was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, also known as the "Fairytale King".

Touring this castle requires an intense climb!  So before we were able to snap the above shot of the castle we  jumped on a bus up the half of the hill did some huffing and puffing up the rest of the hill.

The beauty of the huffing and puffing is the amazing landscape views we captured.

Before arriving to the castle there is an awesome bridge that allows you to capture the entire castle.

Because we didn't bring Joey a change of pants, I got the priveledge of taking the photos.  Too bad he's afraid of heights because the view was absolutely amazing!!!

I just wish I was able to get someone to take my photo so I could get the entire castle with me it it!

The Hohenschwangau Castle is located near the Neuschwanstein Castle and was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II.  It was built by his father, King Maximilian II of Bavaria.

Above is a shot of it before we started climbing the hill and below is when we were near the top of the hill.

It is so hard to get full family shots and we were lucky enough to get this one as we made our last little hump to the top.

Getting Closer.....

Almost There.......

And we made it!

The kids are exhausted and taking a much needed break....

And that completes this trip

Now to head down the hill......the next day we learned new muscles that become sore from walking a continuous downhill slope for 2 miles.  But every calorie burned was worth the breath-taking views and this once in a life-time experience.
