Bad Kissingen, Bavaria Germany

Prior to us packing up and relocating stateside we did some last minute traveling.  A visit to a former exchange students parents was at the top of our list.
Max was a foreign exchange student who stayed with my parents back in 2001-02.  Joey and I were among Max's first events upon him arriving in America.  Only a week or two into his arrival he was "blessed" with the opportunity to attend mine and Joey's extravagant and luxurious wedding.  We were married in front of a judge at the local courthouse and had a BBQ with a Costco wedding cake afterward.  That is about as extravagant and luxurious as it gets!  Ironically enough, his most memorable experience was my mother wearing her headphones listening to the Seattle Mariners game as we were going through the motions of “holy matrimony”. He exclaimed in laugher, “I’ll always remember that!”   In her defense, she did lower them around her neck when we exchanged vows:-)
When we moved to Germany Max was quick to hop on a train to visit.  About a year later he completed his studies in psychology and found a job in Stuttgart.  He into a flat just down the street from us and was a regular visitor up until the day we packed up and left.  Our visit to Bad Kissingen was a memorable experience and begins with a tour of the resort.

Bad Kissingen is a spa town in the Bavarian region of Lower Franconia and is the seat of the district Bad Kissingen. Situated to the south of the Rhön Mountains on the Franconian Saale river, it is a world-famous health resort.
The town itself was first documented in the year 801 as “chizzicha” and was renowned above all for its medicinal springs, which are recorded from as early as 823. Kissingen was first mentioned as a town in 1279, and the first official spa guest was recorded in 1520, the same century that the town established itself as a spa. Kissingen grew to be a chic resort in the 19th century, and was rebuilt as such during the reign of Ludwig I of Bavaria. Crowned heads of state such as Empress Elisabeth of Austria, Tsar Alexander II of Russia and King Ludwig II of Bavaria, who bestowed the 'Bad' on Kissingen in 1883, were among the guests to the spa at this time.

Tristen playing with his baby sister.
There something to say about this relationship!  Tristen takes care of all of his sisters but he is very protective of LeeLee.  She can be clearly in the wrong yet he will defend her to no end.  She does no wrong in his eyes.  Some nights we check on the girls and LeeLee is missing.  Where do we find her?  Curled up next to her big brother.

I thought this was super cool!  Life-size Chess!

After finishing up the beautiful sights of the resort we headed to an animal park.  Max was obviously thinking about the kids with this in mind.

They absolutely loved it!

He didn't hesitate to jump in the fun either!

Like everyone that runs into Tanaya for the first time....this deer just wanted to "feel" her hair..lol

He is childrens book author and is well known for "The World's Shortest Christmas Story"
Below are some links to his website.  Be sure to check out the second link which is a video about his latest book "The world's shortest Christmas story".  Just click on the enlgish version.  I promise you will enjoy it:-)

We received signed copies of his books and the kids enjoyed his enthusiasm as he read to them.

Our last stop was this huge building built with sticks with a mist of water flowing down it.  It is supposed to be good for your lungs to walk through it.  I tried finding the name of it so I could provide more information on it but was unsuccessful.  I will update this post if I find it.......

Nothing like toppig off the trip with a little bit of miniature golf!
